Think Tank Forums and Blogs; Do They Make Sense? Traditionally Think Tanks out there have certainly changed over the years. Now the Internet allows them to deliver so much more information. But should these online think tanks use all the tools that the Internet has to offer. Things such as Audio Files, Video, Adobe Acrobat Reports, Blogs or online forums to help speed up the information flow and increase communication.
As an operator of an Online Think Tank, we have noticed only moderate success with regards to online forums or Blog formats. Anyone who was a member of our Think Tank Chapter or not could post to our forums, using a similar system or typical online .php forum, yet often non-members would cause problems with verbal abuse or personal attacks.
We discovered that members of local, regional or international Think Tanks would post to the online forum and participate in any of the 200 topics in all. US Based Military Types screened could join the special defense think tank section on top of the others.
Now we are considering other options such as allowing each local think tank to also have a Working Forum of their own, able to use the links of topics for explanation of their subjects. Layered Online Think Tank Systems. We considered pitching the idea to the membership that groups form along common interests, once the participation grew.
Such an intellectually motivated social online network could work in any creative genius endeavor. For instance local writer’s groups could meet the same way. It is simply a system overlay using all realms, both physical social and electronic social networks. I actually drew up a pretty excellent schematic today, a net-centric system.
Of course the individual forums would need moderators and some might need group codes; systems within systems well that would be the idea. Look, once we have the volume of people the synergy would just grow and grow. Well, then imagine what we could do together? Well, I certainly hope this article propels thought into 2007.
